From Dream to Reality: How Sno Trips Started

Did you know Airbnb began with two roommates renting out air mattresses in their living room? That simple, creative solution transformed how people travel. I mean even in Oklahoma Airbnb is the focal point when planning parties, girl nights, etc. It’s proof that the smallest ideas can lead to something extraordinary. So, just remember every big idea starts with a tiny spark. For us, it was a passion for creating something unique and undeniably delicious.

Sno Trips didn’t begin as a business—it started as a dream. A wild, exciting, “could we really do this?” kind of dream. And while we’d love to tell you we had it all figured out from the beginning, the truth is, we started with little more than a love for good flavors, a knack for making people smile, and a big appetite for adventure. Heavy on the adventure part for sure!

How It All Began

Let’s rewind to the beginning. It was a sunny afternoon, we were driving around town and quite frankly dreaming out loud. What if we could take the simple joy of sno cones and turn it into something bigger? Something memorable? Something sweet? And so, in short, the idea for our business and a desire to create something different was born. We didn’t want just another shaved ice stand. We wanted to create an experience—a place where people could escape, even if just for a few minutes, and feel like they were on a mini vacation.

But as with any great road trip, our journey had its twists and turns. Sno Trips wasn’t even our first name. Originally, we called ourselves “Twisted Ice.” More on that name another day. Then we became "Sweet Trips," but something still felt off. We knew the word Trip had to say. It’s a nod to that feeling of taking a trip—whether it’s a quick getaway to the beach, a road trip with friends, or a mental escape with a Sno cone in hand. But we also wanted a name that highlighted not just the fun of our business but also our product and its quality. After a couple of seasons, we agreed it was time. So, after a few brainstorming sessions (and a lot of snacks), Sno Trips felt like the perfect fit.  We wanted every bite of our snow-like shaved ice to be a little taste of adventure, no matter where you are.

The Vision Behind the Dream

From the start, our vision was clear: we didn’t just want to sell shaved ice. We wanted to create memories. We wanted families, couples, and friends to gather at Sno Trips and make it part of their story. That’s why we’re passionate about offering more than just the classics. Sure, you’ll find Tigers Blood and Blue Raspberry on our menu, but you’ll also discover creative flavors and combos you’ve never tried before—like Peach Cobbler made with my grandma’s own cobbler recipe, or Peanut Butter Cup—a chocolaty, peanut-buttery treat that feels like dessert on another level. Because why stick to what’s expected? 

And let’s not forget the vibe. Sno Trips isn’t just about what’s in the bowl; it’s about the atmosphere we create.  We want every bowl of shaved ice to feel like a small adventure, a taste of something new, and maybe even a little nostalgic. So, whether you’re enjoying your treat at an event, booking us for a private party, or following along on our blog (hi, friend!), we want Sno Trips to add a little piece of joy in your day.

The Challenges and Triumphs

Starting a small business isn’t easy, but no adventure worth taking ever is. There have been bumps in the road—like figuring out how to transport gallons of syrup without spills (honestly, we’re still working on that). And there were moments we questioned if we were in over our heads. But choosing to take the road less traveled wasn’t just our reality—it was our identity. With every challenge, we kept coming back to why we started: to bring people together and make life a little sweeter. From our first event to now, the support we have received—from our loyal customers and family—has been nothing short of amazing. We lovingly call our customers “Roadies,” because they’re truly the ones who keep us on this journey. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, your enthusiasm is what fuels us. As Drake says, “Started from the bottom, now we’re here.” And even though “here” might be just the beginning, we’re excited to keep climbing.

Looking Ahead

As we continue this journey, our mission remains the same: to serve up the best shaved ice you’ve ever had and to make every visit feel like an adventure. We’re working hard to grow Sno Trips into something bigger and better, while staying true to what matters most: quality, creativity, and the people we serve. So, here’s to dreaming big, chasing those dreams, and enjoying a Sno cone (or a few) along the way. If Sno Trips has taught us anything, it’s that when you mix a little creativity, a lot of passion, and a sprinkle of sugar, amazing things can happen. And Lizzo was right, “It’s about damn time!”
